So the trick to add a background to google docs is to use a different editor that supports image in front of the text.

Google docs add background image. All you need to do in your docs file is select insert drawing new. Then select the add text box button and place the text box where you want your foreground text to appear. However google docs still supports documents that have an image in front of the text. The image you want to add to your google docs background should be saved in your pc to complete this process. Log in to your google account and open google docs to import your google doc document hit on the main menu icon and choose the doc icon there select the blank option and edit your document.
